I know you have heard the saying "run for a good cause" several times in your life\, but this event adds new meaning to that phrase. The event I am talking about is the "Run From the Dark" 5K sponsored by the She Is Safe Duncan Advocacy Group that will be taking place in Duncan\, OK on Friday\, July 26\, 2013 starting at 9 pm. The race will take place at the Duncan Regional Hospital on Duncan Regional Loop Rd & Elk Dr in the West Parking Lot.\n\n\n\nThe She Is Safe group is a group out of Atlanta and works to promote safety of women and girls\, especially during the night hours. Their objective is to prevent\, restore\, and rescue at-risk women or girls from abuse or exploitation across the nation. The reason the race is being held at night is to emphasize the darkness and help women be more aware of their safety.\n\n\n\nThis is a first time event for the She Is Safe group\, but they have recieved much support for the race and maybe can continue it annually.\n\n\n\nIf you register before July 11 then the cost is $25\, but if you wait until after July 11 the cost rises to $30. It is a small price to pay for such a big difference that could be made.
