Burning of the Socks and Switch for Flip Flops
Join the Lake Texoma Region as we welcome Spring 2016!
We have a new lake wide event this year that you won’t want to miss. Join us at your favorite participating marina / resort to BURN those winter socks and bring out your flip flops to enjoy the lake while socializing with friends and family. Activities for Bridgeview Marina and Resort will begin at 8:00 am:
- Grand opening of their new lake front restaurant, so you can start your day with “Breakfast at Bridgeview”, come by boat or land.
- Bridgeview will also be hosting a yard sale that day. If you are interested in participating, bring a table to the marina by 8:00am and set up your items to sell to visitors coming out to the marina.
- At 11:00am, there will be a socks decorated “Golf Cart Parade” around the resort. Best decorated “SOCK” cart will get free lunch for 2 at the Bridgeview Cafe.
- At noon, Bridgeview will have a fire pit in front of the restaurant’s outdoor patio to burn those old, used winter socks & put on our flip flops!
- There will also be free hot dogs provided during the burning, with drinks for purchase in the restaurant or ship store.
- Bridgeview welcomes you to come out and visit their boat ramp and BRAND NEW fishing dock, both are complimentary to visitors!
Activities for Buncombe Creek Resort Marina will begin at 11:00 am and ends when the fun is over!
- Chili Cook Off – call the office to let them know you plan to participate at (580)564-2543 or toll free at (800)636-2543.
- Polar Bear Plunge & Dunking Booth – Marshall County Under Sheriff Danny Cryer has volunteered to be dunked…get your place in line!!
- Hot Dog Roast – food is complimentary & you can BYOB. There will also be drinks available for sale at the restaurant and store. The Buncombe Creek Resort Marina store will have BoTS commemorative t-shirts for sale ($8) and Flip Flops ($3), in case you haven’t had a chance to get your new ones yet. Don’t forget to check out all the unique items for sale in the store.
- Burning of the Socks Fire Pit
- Buncombe Creek Resort Marina will have 2 bands playing to keep the excitement going all day long, one starts 11a-2p, the next band will play from 5-8p. There will be a dance floor so get those dancing flip flops ready!
- There will be drawings for prizes to include 2 fishing guide trips.
- Also, don’t miss the car show which will begin around 11a.
- Lots of activities and fun, bring your friends and family!
Activities for Cedar Mills Marina begin at 2:00pm:
- Boat Open House 2:00-4:00pm
- Burning of the old winter socks 4:00-6:00pm
- Irish food starts at 5:00pm
- Band starts at 7:30pm
(Pelican’s Landing is offering a drink, food or adult beverage coupon valued at $5 plus FREE Flip Flops while supplies last for all of those who burn their socks and put on flip flops!)
- Irish Celebration at Pelican’s Landing with specials & featuring the Fortunate Sons Band!
Activities for Flowing Wells Resort & Marina begin at 5:00pm through 10:00pm and include the following fun activities:
- Located in the picnic area, hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided.
- Don’t forget to bring your beach blankets, chairs and BYOB!
- Flowing Wells is also doing a Sock Drive for donating new socks to locals in need.
- Bring your old socks and toss them into the BonFire!
Activities for Highport Marina will begin at 7:30pm:
- Bonfire for sock-burning at launch ramp area
- BBQ Sandwiches and chips provided
- “After-Burn” party at MO’s with drink specials
- Entertainment
- Highport will also be giving out “freebies”!
Activities for Lighthouse Resort & Marina Kick Off at 1p until 10p when the Oasis Lodge closes. We will have a Lake Tour and a Sunset Cruise aboard our new vessel “Sight Sea Er” as well as food, drinks, and fun at Get-A-Bite and Oasis Lodge, including our specialty drink “The Dirty Sock”
- 1pm to 2:30pm: Lake Tour Cruise – $19 per person ($5 off of total ticket price for a new pack of socks to donate to charity)
- 3p – 4:30p:
- Bonfire from 3p – 10p for guests to burn their socks at Get-A-Bite
- Fun Games Including Horseshoes, Noodle/Egg duo, Frisbee Toss, Kid’s Scavenger Hunt, Life Jacket Donning Relay Race, Hot Dog Eating Contest, Wildest Sock Contest, Sock Puppet Performances.
- Food/Drink Specials: Get-A-Bite Spring menu (Burgers, Dogs, BBQ, Nachos) Specialty Drink – “The Dirty Sock”
- 7:00p – 8:30p, Sunset Cruise – $29 per person, $14 per child 12 & under ($5 off of total ticket price for a new pack of socks to donate to charity)
